TutorDudes is pleased to announce that we will be expanding to select regional locations all across the US. In an effort to replicate our program in DC, we have carefully chosen representatives from each city to act as Regional Directors. The cities that we have chosen for our expansion include: San Francisco, New York City, Boston and Denver. Each of these cities will implement a region-specific Tutoring and Community program that directly meets the needs of that locale. It is our hope that the expansion will be able to provide more deserving students with affordable, top-notch tutoring in Math and Science. Below is a description of the city-wide programs we plan on establishing as well as a link to the biographies of the regional directors and tutors in each location.
Washington, DC (Headquarters)
Tutoring Program Director: Brice P. Vallieres, B.S., M.S.
Community Program Director: Matthew Miller, A.B.
Dude Tutoring in the capital hit its all-time high this past spring (2011) with over 40 new clients, 15 new tutors, 350 hours of tutoring and an average course grade increase of over 15 points. The community program has also taken off since its early 2011 inception – this year alone, we have participated in school and neighborhood cleanups, collected money for various causes and were vetted to become an after school provider for DCPS. San Francisco / Silicon Valley, CA
Regional Director: TBA soon!
San Francisco initially peaked our interest because of its culturally and geographically diverse landscape. Given its close proximity to the Oakland-Fremont area we believe that a location in SF would be ideally primed for the origin of a successful Community Program. Also, given the recent influx of youthful white-collared “hipsters” to the bay over the last couple of years as a result of the tech boom in nearby silicon valley, we believe there may be a tremendous opportunity to connect well-qualified recent graduates with students all across the bay. Boston, MA
Regional Director: Justin Sweeney, A.B.
Boston was a largely strategic choice for us given its densely populated metropolitan area containing over 50 colleges and Universities including the likes of Harvard, BC, BU, Tufts and MIT. Our approach is to foster committed relationships with local colleges to establish a program of interest that serves the needs of local youth. Denver turned out to be a really fantastic opportunity to understand the efficiency of our program outside the walls of a major west or east coast metropolitan city. This vibrant city offers a lot of opportunities to explore our interests in tandem with our 1-on-1 tutoring services. These interests include a more comprehensive mentorship program integrating sports, culture and community events.
